- Situated in the Barkley West district NE of Kimberley (farm Van Zoelen's Laagte)
- Comprises of 3 types of deposits namely Plateau gravels (Rooikoppie), Palaeo gravels and Vaal river gravels
- Lauraville is situated within the Palaeofluvial system containing diamondiferous gravels
- Remains the only area where pristine plateau gravels still appear
- The nature and quality of the Barkley West district diamonds are greater than 80% gem with good crystal form
- Size: In the area generally varies between 1.5 to 3.0 ct
- Shape: mainly octahedrons also macles (diamond crystal type
- Clarity: The greater portion of the diamonds are gem quality
